Gomatara ごまたら

My mom went Japan recently and bought a bunch of cool stuff (Gundams
& figurines amids!) I thought I’d feature some here and being the
"glutton" that I am I’d much rather start off with something we all can
connect with - FOOD!
Among the many yummie goodies was
something I absolutely have zero craving for - the "smelly" cuttlefish
sticks/strips. But this! This ごまたら(gomatara)’s one of a kind.
The
Japanese have a way of adding more flavour to food and I’d say by
spreading a layer of (black) sesame seeds in between sheets of pressed
cuttlefish not only adds flavour but enhances the texture too.
Before
I knew it, both me and my mom finished the whole pack within minutes.
Nope no smelly breath aftermath. And yes it goes GREAT with a frosted
can of ビール。 Ahhhh there you go! (:

Police car in car showroom - I wonder if it’ll transform

The
car showrooms are getting so laden with expensive cars nowadays that
people are thinking that it might be best to incorporate a
ready-to-chase police car in there too. . . . Ok I was kidding. Was
passing by Middle Road
and spotted this super kawaii Mitsubishi in the showroom. Yes it comes
complete with the mini siren on top. Hmmmm.. I wonder if its for sale.
Or maybe its an Autobot! Hmmmmm

What in the world happened to PS1 & PSP?

Games

I realised I did not write about
my PS1 and PSP despite starting this blogging thingy with one that
raves about PS2. So I decided to add something here… Not that they’re
not important enough to mention, just that when PS2 was launched, I was
really (and I mean REALLIEE) bored in
Australia,
so I found something to chant about. But pre and post ps2 days, I
decided I have much better things to do (like fully utilising the
consoles for instance) than simply whine about not having them. haha!
Oh well… this is just doing some justice to them… quite meaningless now if you ask me but what the heck.
PLAY a video game symphony

Look who went to the "long awaited" PLAY
concert only to find out that there is no beloved Sephiroth there. No,
not even a screen shot. Nwot, zipped, zapped, zwopped. Nothing! -.-!
Nevertheless it was an evening that brought me back to my *weep* childhood.
The
programme was lined up with suites & main themes of old favourites
from the likes of Super Mario Bros, Lost Odyssey, Sonic the Hedgehog,
Metal Gear solid, World of Warcraft, Chrono Trigger & Chrono Cross,
Legend of Zelda and of cos Final Fantasy VII’s One Winged Angel (psst
favourite!)
Performed by the Singapore Festival Orchestra led by
the American conductor Arnie Roth, and accompanied by the National
University of Singapore Choir Vocal Consort, the whole stage… well
you would have thought it’s some arty-farty boring-scotty classical
whip of a symphonhy. But no - guest star Takenobu Mitsuyoshi jammed
things up with his classic Daytona USA piece. Electronic jam done in
classical piano style. I’d have to say he pulled it off really well
that geezer!
Anyway what I truly felt irritating was the
hysterical laughter whenever a video captured clip of a game segment
flashed across the screen. True its no PS3 or XBox 360 graphics but
there’s no need to laff so loud you cover the music!
Managed to
snap a lousy low res pix during intermission only have the usher stop
me with a loud embarrassing "No photography miss, please delete!" -.-!
All
in all it was simply fantastic (to me at least). The wonder ended with
an encore piece from Shinobi (yes more laughter) and I found myself
clapping so hard my arm actually ached.
Still, as much as I’m
for promoting arts in SG (which is not much really), I do hope they
bring this back and keep it to a minimum $$$$ cos we gamers have not
much dosh left after splurging on… u noe.. stuff.
PS! I hope I win the limited edition Blue Dragon XBox 360 console!

This is for those who get bored with their wallpaper easily. Now you can have a new set of wallpaper LIVE! Sure some people say its just a screen shot of what’s behind your desk. But this wonderful "technology" would be the coolest next BIG thing and definitely a must-have if it really gets developed. Add that to the XGL from Linux and you’ll have the best of both worlds. Just think touch-screen monitors, Minority Report-style.
Check out these two vidz . Would have been wonderful if the two can merge. The only thing I can foresee is a surge of third party marketers suddenly producing an endless supply of screen wipes and lens cloth (for the delicate erm "screens" )
When did this happen?!
I was making my way from Somerset station to Cineleisure to meet my movie buddy for a show at Cathay last Monday when I realised that I’ve haven’t been walking down that stretch of Town for many moons.
The most significant change (that stopped me dead in my tracks in fact, till something dropped onto my head which thankfully, was not the white stuff from the irritating birds there, ) was this really BRIGHT building from across the road. It’s the newly located JL in the very place of what would have been, the really old skool OG building.
I figured I couldn’t have been out of town so long, so much so that I did not even notice an entire department store checking out, the construction team moving in, performed a full works of operation & a new Departmental store sprang up. Where have I been man!
Of cos a half-fledged Hikikomori (引き篭り) like me wouldn’t have been in Town squeezing with the GSS crowd to have noticed anyway.. so the 64 million-dollar question is… When did this happen!?!
Actually, having said that, the 65 million-dollar question went to "
Why was Zodiac sold out on a Monday nite" =/= ..
Pictured here - the new JL… where OG once stood followed by Orchard Emerald & Centerpoint and so on… … …
